My 18 month old son has ...I really appreciate this. My 18 month old son has been using my first aac (a cheap beginner aac app) and he just got approved for proloquo2go on an ipad through the state, largely because he was able to show them that he's already too limited by the app he has! While his SLP is very supportive, I am constantly getting comments from other moms saying that he's too little for the "talker" and will "talk when he's ready", or "so what if he's not talking, mine isn't either and they're the same age" (among less polite things). He is so smart and hears a lot of the comments, and is more and more reluctant to use it in public. When he gets proloquo, he will have to have it with him everywhere we go, which often means out in the community with other moms. Any advice for dealing with the comments / explaining to others why he's not just a "late talker"? I'm finding this really challenging and just want my son to feel safe communicating in all settings. My email is erinrosalee@gmail.com if you have any tips!
